Black Forest Frappe
Whenever I see cherries the wheels in my head start moving in just one direction….. Black Forest. A simple combo with countless possibilities ( HINT I am not gonna stop here). Chocolate, cream and cherries that is all you need to make black forest cake, gateau, trifle, muffins, cupcakes, roulade, pies, pancakes and the list goes on. Just google and see for yourself.
It is a simple coffee drink with a makeover. Make some black coffee and keep it in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours. Chilled ingredients will make better iced coffee. Add some chocolate syrup to give it a chocolatey body, top with some whipped cream and finish with a cherry on top. ingredients: (about 2 servings)
100 ml whipping cream
1 tbsp icing sugar
1 cup coffee ( no sugar or milk added)
1/4 – 1/3 cup chocolate syrup
1/4 cup cherry sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup ice cubes
2 tbsp cherry sauce ( this is for garnish) grated dark chocolate
cherries to top
In a bowl beat together whipping cream and icing sugar till thick according to your preference. Refrigerate. Prepare the glasses in which you want to serve.
In a blender combine chilled coffee, chocolate syrup, cherry sauce, brown sugar, salt and ice cubes. Blend for a minute and check if all the ice cubes are crushed. Blend for few more seconds if there are some chunks of ice. Pour into serving glasses, spoon or pipe whipped cream, drizzle some cherry sauce, sprinkle grated chocolate and finish the look with a cherry. ( A little mess I created but it looked pretty)
