Yes I remember posting Magic Shell Topping recipe just last month but don’t we all need more reasons and excuses to have extra ice cream in our lives? I saw this drool worthy recipe of hot fudge sauce on Smitten Kitchen and couldn’t stop myself from trying it out and I am so pleased that I did. Then again I don’t resist the temptation of experimenting when there is chocolate and ice cream involved.
First try and Bamm! It is so easy, so quick, so yummy, so shiny, so thick, so versatile and so satisfying. You can refrigerate it for as long as you can ( why would you?) and every time you reheat it in the microwave it’s texture and flavor would remain the same. Try it with ice cream ….
Or with cake or brownie….
Or both, the more the merrier….
Best hot Fudge Sauce
Because a little indulgence won't hurt.
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup heavy or whipping cream
- 1/2 cup corn syrup or honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- a pinch of salt
In a small saucepan, combine butter, crea, corn syrup (or honey), brown sugar and cocoa powder.
Place on low medium flame and bring to simmer.
Let simmer on low heat for 3-4 minutes while stirring continuously. Remove from heat and add in chocolate chips, stir till chocolate melts.
Add in vanilla and a pinch of salt. Let cool for 5 minutes before pouring on ice cream. It will thicken as it gets cooler. Refrigerate in air tight jars.
