Banana, Peanut Butter and Nutella Panini Sandwich

Desperate times require desperate actions! To be more precise, when you need a quick dessert fix, you do whatever it takes… bow to sugar craving and fulfill it. I am not a fan of Nutella and I think there are just a few recipes on the blog with this ingredient, this rich Italian dessert a refreshing frappeNutella cupcakes with Nutella frosting etc but I have to admit it has very soothing and comforting properties… When you look at it sitting in the pantry you know it can be a friend in need, if not best friend.

 

The idea is simple yet pure pleasure, dab some Nutlella and peanut butter on a piece of bread, any bread for that matter, put some slices of banana, sprinkle any available chocolate chips followed by a hint of cinnamon to give a warm kick to the flavors, cover with bread and press in the panini machine or a sandwich maker or a grill pan.

Serve with cinnamon infused cream. Ah! Grilled to perfection, not-too-sweet, mix and match velvety flavors sandwiched in between crunchy bread.. Life is perfect, my friend! If you need a break from regular fall/winter halwas ( I say this with all my love and respect for our desi sweet treats), give it a go. It would be like a gentle, warm and comforting hug 🙂

Simple ingredients can do wonders. A perfect snack, dessert and lunch box item.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 2 tbsp Nutella or any hazelnut spread
  • 1 1/2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
  • 1 medium banana, sliced
  • 1 tsp semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp peanut butter chips optional
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 cup dairy cream, to serve optional

Instructions

  1. Place 2 slices of bread on panini press or sandwich maker. 

  2. Put scattered drops of hazelnut spread and peanut butter on the slices. Do not spread like butter. Let the flavors surprise you with every bite. Place banana slices.

  3. Sprinkle semi sweet and white chocolate chips (one type of chips are good enough too) and peanut butter chips (if using). Sprinkle cinnamon powder.

  4. Press in the panini machine or sandwich maker for about 3-4 minutes or till the bread is golden brown. If using a grill pan, give each side 3-4 minutes and apply little pressure with spatula.

  5. Remove from panini press/sandwich maker/grill. Serve with unsweetened cream with exira sprinkle of cinnamon.
