No Yeast, No Rise 30 Minute Pizza

Many home cooks are complaining about certain ingredients not being available in the market due to lock down and yeast is one of the top five. Luckily there are experts, like Jamie Oliver, in food industry to help such situations, although this is one of his very old recipes which is now under radar since yeast is in short supply. Frankly, I made this pizza a while ago when I was clearing the freezer and there were a couple of beautiful mozzarella blocks, waiting for their turn to be consumed. I photographed it with the phone camera because this recipe wasn’t planned to get posted on the blog but due to certain circumstances I am giving it a go here, although the pictures of the featured recipe do not do justice to what it really is!

This recipe has baking powder as a rising agent instead of yeast and it tastes divine, has perfect texture and another plus point is that it is ready in 30 minutes from start to finish. Yup! It takes barely 10-15 minutes to enter the hot oven and will be baked to perfection in 15 minutes. If this isn’t a winner than what is? Usually I prefer Pizza Margherita but my kids insisted on beef pepperoni which is optional. Pizza is a very versatile food and can accommodate countless toppings imaginable. Perfect crust, delicious pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese are integral to nail the dish. Feel free to top with any of your favorite toppings. This isn’t gluten free nor I have tried it with gluten free flours. My family favorite gluten free pizza is No Rise Gluten Free Pizza CrustNo Knead Gluten Free Pizza Crust and Gluten Free Chicken Fajita Pizza.

Yup! You heard it right. This pizza is ready in 30 minutes without yeast and you will fall in love with the simplicity and flavor.

Ingredients

  • cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 14 tbsp water (a little less than 1 cup)
  • pizza sauce
  • pepperoni or any other topping
  • grated mozzarella cheese
  • mixed dried herbs for sprinkle

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven at 400 F/ 200 C

  2. Grease a pizza pan or use a non stick pan.

  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together all purpose flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar.

  4. Add oil and slowly pour water to the flour. Use a spoon to mix or use a electric mix to speed up the process.

  5. If the mixture becomes too dry, add a little splash of water and if it gets too sticky, add in some more flour.

  6. Roll the dough on a floured surface. About 12"round or 13 x 9 rectangular.

  7. Spoon and spread pizza sauce, add toppings and cover with mozzarella cheese generously.

  8. Sprinkle some dried herbs.

  9. Bake for about 15-17 minutes or until golden brown.

  10. Slice and serve hot.
