Wednesday Wisdom: Eid Trolley Ideas

This happens every year…. We wait for the blessed month of Ramadan, we plan our routine, we strive to get the best out of the holy month, we channel all our energies in one direction, we feel spiritually recharged and refueled and later we realize that this month has passed by quicker than expected. Then there are Eid preparations. Although things are different this year but the tradition of setting up “Eid Trolley” stays. We prepare Eid goodies and set up a serving trolley or table for the family and friends to savor throughout the day. This Eid is also affectionately known as “meethe Eid” (sweet eid) because highlight of our eid trolleys are sweet dishes or desserts. Here are a few suggestions from the blog (that are some of the most viewed desserts too) to help you decide your favorite Eid goodies:
Sawiyan/ Sweet Vermicelli:
No eid trolley is complete without Sawaiyan. I did a post Fusion Vermicelli – 3 Eid Special Recipes with three variations of this traditional sweet that include Vermicelli Al A Mode that has warm sawaiyan/vermicelli with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Different? Yes. Satisfying? Totally. These aren’t gluten free by the way.
Then there is Banana and Cream Sawaiyan/Vermicelli in which there is extra dose of cream and oomph of banana. You won’t be disappointed my friend.
Another show stopper includes Chocolate Sawaiyan/ Vermicelli Can I be more excited? You can not go wrong with chocolate… Ever!
Firni? Rice Pudding
For the past few years my go to Eid trolley highlight has been Firni/ Rice Pudding. It is traditional, simple, quick and Gluten Free. All you need is full fat milk, rice flour and sugar with cardamom and garnish.
